MAGALIESBURG - DERBY - VENTERSDORP

There are many venues in the Magaliesburg where you can have a great meal.  Our favourite is KUMANDINE but there is also the Wicker Country Place, The Wimpy and many others.

This route assumes a stop at one of these Biker friendly venues for breakfast before pressing on for a bit of touring.

This route assumes you already know the way to Magaliesburg (one of the favourite breakfast run venues. If in doubt, check out Magaliesburg - Kumandine Restaurant via Satellite Tracking Station or Magaliesburg - Kumandine Restaurant via Krugersdorp Highway.

• After having breakfast, leave KUMANDINE and turn right towards Magaliesburg.

• Follow the road up the hill, cross the Railway line and proceed up to the next Stop street.

• Turn right towards Koster (heading away from Magaliesburg Town) and follow the R509 to Koster

• You’ll go past Boons and when you get to Derby (good idea to fill up now - about 180 km’s from Jo’burg), take the turn-off to Ventersdorp, don’t continue to Koster.

• At the T-Junction turn Right  towards Ventersdorpng Autumn)

• In Ventersdorp, there are a few places to stop but the folks there are pretty conservative so be considerate in terms of loud ‘pipes and riding too fast.

Leaving Ventersdorp you have several choices

1. Follow the R30 to Klerksdorp and come home on the N12

OR

2. Follow the R53 to Potchefstroom and come home on the N12

OR

3. Take the R47 to Krugersdorp (our preferred route) which takes you past Klerkskraal and  Brandvlei, bringing you out to the Magaliesburg / Krugersdorp / Ventersdorp / Tarlton intersection (R24 / R47)

• Go past Tarlton on the R47 which brings you out to Oaktree (R563 to Hekpoort).

• Turn Right towards Krugersdorp and immediately Left up the hill (R47 again) past Kromdraai (past the Rhino park turn-off).

Follow the R47 until you get to the intersection of the R47 and the R28 (Krugersdorp Highway)
