Comments:
This is still one of the most popular venues for bikers and the effort the staff and management go to, to make us feel welcome deserves loyal support.

It is still one of the best breakfasts.  All menu items are couched in Biking terms - Scrambler (Scrambled egg on toast), Tourer (Wors Patty, Bacon, Egg, and Toast), Superbike, Cruiser etc etc.. Great theme.

Check out the complimentary Sherry in Winter as well as the complimentary bucket of water and paper towels to wash your visor.  This is the only venue we have seen that has a road sign indicating bikes are welcome!

They even provide square steel plates to stop your pride and joy taking a plunge into the grass when you leave her on the side stand.

All the bikes park out front where you can watch them arrive and leave - feasting on the variety that frequents the place.

A great venue! Top Marks for effort!

Outward Bound:
  • From the Total Garage, Take the usual route R516 to Lanseria / Pelindaba and get onto the R28 Krugersdorp Highway Heading West.
  • Follow the highway until the Stop Street at the 4-way stop.
  • Turn right and follow the road to Tarlton
  • At the next T-Junction (R536 Krugersdorp Tarlton / Hekpoort)  turn right and either go via Tarlton by taking the left fork or go via Hekpoort by taking the right fork (straight)

Via Tarlton

  • Follow the road until you get the next stop street (staggered junction) going to Krugersdorp / Ventersdorp / Magaliesburg turn right and head towards Magaliesburg.  This road will bring you right into the town.
  • You can choose to have breakfast at the Wimpy (yawn) or go through the town, taking the fork to the right and dropping into the valley.  About 1.5 km further on, you will come across Kumandine Restaurant and Wicker Country Place

Via Hekpoort

  • Take the right fork follow the road.  You will go past Greensleeves restaurant and the Stilfontein caves (worth a visit).
  • After about 15km you will go down "the mountain".   Be careful, this road surface is often full of diesel / oil / sand etc and is slightly off-camber making it tricky if you aren't experienced or not familiar with the road.
  •  At the bottom of the little pass, take the first road left to Bekker Schools.  Follow the road to yet another T-Junction.  Note:  this is often viewed as another high speed road but is not suited for hooliganism as the local folks walk down this road to Church / Schools etc and often walk in the roadway.
  • At the T-Junction Magaliesburg / Rustenburg, turn left and follow the few tantalising corners past Mount Grace (watch out for their entrance on the last blind left-hander).  Just before the left hand sweep, you will see Kumandine on your right hand side up the slope, across the road from Wicker Country Place - another Breakfast venue.
Going Home:
  • Go back via Magaliesburg, through the town and follow the road until you get to the crossroads to Ventersdorp / Krugersdorp / Tarlton.  Take the Tarlton road which will bring you out to the R536 to Krugersdorp.  Turn right and go straight to Krugersdorp or turn left to Pretoria.  This will bring you out at the 4-way stop at the bottom of the R28 Krugersdorp highway.  Go straight to get to Roodepoort / Florida etc or turn left to go to Pretoria.

or

  • Go back via  the Bekker Schools, turning left out of Kumandine.  Take the first road  right marked Bekker Schools.  At the T-Junction, turn right, going up the small pass and heading straight to Krugersdorp or taking the first road left to Hartebeeshoek.  This road will bring you out past the Satellite Tracking station and eventually bring you to the Hartebeespooort road (R512).

or

  • Go past the Bekker Schools turn-off and take the next turn-off to Hekpoort. This is one of our favourite return roads but should be taken slowly due to its narrowness and bumpy surface.  The road will bring you out to Hartebeespoortdam.

Take it Easy, Ride Safely and Enjoy!

See you at Breakfast!
